Firefighters Endorse Jordan for Mayor
The Fayetteville Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 2866, has endorsed Vice Mayor Lioneld Jordan for Mayor of Fayetteville in the upcoming general election on November 4th. Jordan has served eight years as Alderman for Ward 4, and he has been instrumental in establishing additional fire stations throughout the community.
Jordan said in an email response that he was honored to have the support of the Fayetteville Firefighters and commended them for their public service to the city and its residents. "Not only are these brave men and women on the front line of protecting lives and property at great personal sacrifice, our dedicated firefighters have made significant contributions beyond the responsibilities of their professional duties," Jordan said. "Their contributions to our community include saving the Movies in the Park summer program, helping sponsor local Olympian Margaux Isaksen, working with local schools and homeless shelters to identify families in need at Christmas time as part of their Secret Santa program, and funding Camp Sunshine in conjunction with Arkansas Children's Hospital for children who have been badly burned in fires. Overall, their Bikes, Blues, & BBQ Poker Run and the annual Firefighters Pancake Breakfast resulted in more than $9,000 in contributions to local charities."
The association also made endorsements for city council races: Don Connor for Ward One, Mark Kinion for Ward Two, and Craig Honchell Ward Four.
