You Should Buy It for the Articles, too

The October issue of
Playboy Magazine has a great interview with Keith Oberman, the witty anchorman who is MSNBC’s liberal antidote to Bill O’Reilly and who gives us the great straight-up political "Countdown with Keith Oberman." The contents page says that the increasingly popular political pundit pulls no punches as he explains why Fox News is as dangerous as the KKK, who really is the worst person in the world, and how he finds joy living with a woman half his age.

For the less cerebral and more libidinal liberal readers, the issue also has a feature on "Girls of the SEC," including two University of Arkansas coeds. Collectors of signed first editions will be delighted to know that the young student models will be signing copies of the magazine from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Hastings on College Avenue in Fayetteville.

Some of the Puritans in the UA Administration were less than enthusiastic about the publicity for the student bodies. UA Chancellor John White said in a statement to The Traveler, a student newspaper on campus, "People whose opinions of the university are impacted negatively are obviously missing the bigger picture of what is happening on our campus. While their actions are not endorsed by the university, nor do we encourage such actions, students are absolutely free to make their own moral choices and engage in legal endeavors as independent adults. However, I hope they do so with full recognition of the long-term impacts such decisions could have. Just as decisions regarding content in [social networking sites] can have long-term effects, so can decisions to be included in magazines such as Playboy.” So can being a pompous tightassed killjoy, John.
